5 Things to Expect on a Yoga Retreat in Sri Lanka (With Safari Adventures)

When I first dreamt up this retreat, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a week away. I wanted it to feel like a reset — the kind where you come home feeling a bit lighter, clearer, more connected, and a little more you.
If you’ve been thinking about joining but aren’t quite sure what to expect, here’s a little peek into what the week will actually feel like...
1. Begin each day with yoga and nature
Think golden skies, birdsong, and your bare feet touching the ground as you walk to your morning yoga class. Each day begins with a dynamic vinyasa practice — flowing at your own pace, no pressure. Sometimes we’ll practice by the lotus lake, other days under the old Banyan tree or in our open air private yoga Shala.
And if you’re not a "morning person" — don’t worry. You’ll ease into it quickly out here!
2. Daily movement, breath, and rest
You can expect yoga every morning and some evenings too, with one breathwork session during the week to help you drop deeper into your body and out of your head. It’s not about how flexible or advanced you are — it’s about giving yourself the space to slow down, move in a way that feels good, and reconnect.
If you feel like exploring more advanced poses, you’re absolutely welcome to — and I’ll be there to support and guide you safely into them.
I always ask for consent before offering any physical adjustments or massage, so you’ll never receive unexpected hands-on touch from me.
And if you feel like skipping a session to have a lie in, explore the stunning beaches on the south coast or curl up in a hammock? Please do. This is your time!
3. Two safari adventures you’ll never forget
On this yoga retreat in Sri Lanka, we’ll also head out on two half-day jeep safari trips to explore the national parks, with the chance to see elephants, monkeys, vibrant birdlife, and — if we’re lucky — a leopard or even a sloth bear.
We’ll be joined by an experienced naturalist and guide who’ll share insight into the landscapes, wildlife, and stories behind what we see. Whether you're a nature lover or just curious, it’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after the retreat ends.
4. Unreal food, cooked just for us
We'll be staying in an eco-friendly hotel during the Sri Lanka yoga retreat, surrounded by nature and enjoying nourishing plant-based vegan and vegetarian meals prepared by our private chef. Everything is home-cooked, nourishing, and tailored to suit your dietary needs — so you can feel your best without having to think twice about what’s on your plate.
Think colourful plates, tropical fruit, vibrant salads, and delicious local flavours — all designed to fuel your body, allow you to detox and support your retreat experience.
We’ll be sharing meals together each day, a chance to slow down, connect, and enjoy real conversation with like-minded people around the table.
5. Time. Space. Stillness. Connection.
Yes, there’s yoga. Yes, there’s adventure. But one of the most special parts of this retreat? The space to just be.
No notifications. No to-do lists. No pressure. Just real connection — shared meals, honest conversations, time in nature, and moments that feel slow, simple, and completely yours.
Whether you come solo or with a friend, you’ll be part of a small group of just 10 guests — a calm, welcoming space where you can relax fully, move at your own pace, and enjoy exactly what you need from a retreat.
